The Irish Global Health Network aims to contribute to the improvement of individual and population health globally. This is achieved by creating networks that will promote research and education and advocate for investment in global health. The specific objectives of the Irish Global Health Network are to: 1.) Strengthen and build capacity by ensuring students who graduate from health science courses in Irish third level institutions have the understanding, knowledge and ability to engage in global health issues. 2.) Enable our members to produce high quality collaborative research, with partners in middle and low income countries, in the interest of identifying possible solutions to health problems in these settings. 3.) Ensure that government, the donor community and civil society contribute more to addressing global health issues by raising awareness and advocating for a global health perspective. Since its establishment in 2004, the Irish Global Health Network (formally know as the Irish Forum for Global Health) has been the only network of its kind in Ireland, bringing together over 700 members from various disciplines, all of whom are expressing a commitment to global health.
