We started out as a relatively small business compared to competitors in the same field, yet we out-performed them time and again. Then in 2009 Asda purchased IPL and we became part of the Walmart family. We continued to build our portfolio of products all the while focusing on our mission of creating a unique supply base capability for Asda and Walmart in order to support them in their mission to save customers money so they could live better lives. So picture a thriving, working community with seven production sites across the UK including Sittingbourne (Fruit), Peterborough (House Plants and Flowers), Telford (Nuts and Dried Fruit), Snetterton (Beverages), Ackton (Bananas), and Westry (Potatoes). In addition picture a number of logisticians, technicians and consultants based across the globe, each tasked with helping to source and deliver the very best quality products for Asda and Walmart customers by building strong working relationships with farmers and growers around the world. We may be a wholly owned subsidiary of the second largest supermarket in the UK and we may be part of the biggest retailer in the world with a turnover of £1.7bn but the asset we are most proud of is our people: our operatives, buyers and engineers. The quality assurance, supply chain, and product development teams; those who support the business with I.T, finance and HR requirements. Everybody plays a part and we wouldn’t be where we are today without the input of each and every person. Our colleagues are the best in the business and we like to think we provide an environment where they can thrive and realise their full potential within the framework of our STEP values – Supportive, Trailblazing, Engaging, Principled. Creating a positive culture has helped us to achieve low attrition rates with a large percentage of colleagues having been with us for over 10 years. In our journey to become a great place to work we believe that if you’re employed by IPL, then you are IPL.
