The International Aviation Academy of New Zealand (IAANZ) is the professional flight training arm of the Canterbury Aero Club which has been operating since 1928. The IAANZ is able to offer the student pilot a range of learning environments from Controlled airspace at our base in the International airport or at our own satellite airfield, West Melton, where students are able to fine tune their skills in uncontrolled airspace, only 5 minutes flight time from the International airport. The IAANZ’s commitment is to strive to be the best flight training provider in New Zealand and make a mark globally by working with the industry to tailor its programme to ensure its graduates are the most work-ready. The Academy is continually improving its flight training to ensure it provides the most up-to-date training programme incorporating the latest in environmental, technical and safety regulations. The success of the Academy’s training programme is seen in the large numbers of IAANZ graduate pilots who are employed within the airline industry throughout New Zealand and internationally. The IAANZ’s commitment to quality has been recognized by it's appointment to be a Partner Flight Training Organisation for Air New Zealand. This appointment comes following a rigorous review of the organisation, flight training program, quality systems and ability to meet Air New Zealand Aviation Institute standards.
