InterAction Council Information

Established in 1983, the InterAction Council (IAC) is an independent non-profit organization whose objective is to address long-term, global issues facing humankind. Founded by the late Prime Minister Takeo Fukuda of Japan and guided for many years by the late Chancellor Helmut Schmidt of Germany, it was the first organization of its kind, harnessing the vast knowledge and energy of experienced world leaders. Co-Chaired by President Olusegun Obasanjo (President of Nigeria, 1999-2007) and Mr. Bertie Ahern (Taoiseach of Ireland, 1997-2008), the Council’s membership meets annually to develop proposals for action on some of the world’s most pressing issues and submits them directly to national and international decision-makers.
