At The Art House, artists and audiences of all kinds are invited to engage with the creative process through a programme of residencies, exhibitions, events, workshops, and professional development opportunities. In our building you'll find exhibition spaces, a shop, a café, accommodation for creatives and more than 50 artists studios hosting a wide variety of artists, makers, and creative businesses. Event spaces and meeting rooms are also available for hire. From board meetings and away days, to creative workshops and launch events, our truly inspirational city centre venue offers spaces to suit any occasion. Our building is located just 60 seconds walk from Wakefield Westgate railway station and is close to a number of city centre car parks. It also benefits from excellent accessibility features so you can be confident that it’s suitable for all of your attendees.

The Cultural Learning Alliance champions a right to arts and culture for every child. Our core activities are policy analysis, relationship building and evidence gathering. The Alliance includes a range of organisations working across the cultural and education sectors, including non-departmental public bodies, philanthropists, umbrella organisations, cultural and arts partners, creative industry leaders, education specialists, teachers and schools. The Alliance is free to join.

The Art Room is a charity that was set up in 2002 to offer art as therapy to children and young people aged 5 to 16 who are facing major challenges in their lives. It uses art to raise their self esteem, self confidence and independence. Many of the students who attend The Art Room are disengaged from mainstream education, are disruptive or withdrawn. All have been identified as needing special time away from school in a calm environment. Some of the students have learning difficulties or have had an interrupted education; some have recently arrived in this country; others are prime carers within their families or are ‘looked after children’ (children in care). For all these children The Art Room offers respite from the pressure of mainstream education and a chance to be creative in a safe, relaxed environment. Starting from a small base in Oxford Spires Academy, a secondary school in East Oxford, The Art Room has grown. There are now nine Art Rooms which help over 500 students each week.
