Intelligent Brokerage was created to fill a gap, foreseen by its founder Andy Hughes, within the refurbished Enterprise IT market back in 2010. Andy came from the banking industry within Data Centre Management, where capital and money spent on new, sealed boxed enterprise computer hardware would boggle the mind. Literally millions was spent each year on upgrading perfectly good hardware that had expired it’s 3 Year Hardware Warranty period. The hardware that was been deposed of was either shredded on site or given to recyclers, minus the hard drives or any other removable media that would also be shredded onsite.This is when Andy realised that companies and customers within the SMB market could capitalise on second user enterprise hardware components and solutions. Starting with small refurbished server and storage builds listed on eBay, Andy started up a reputable eBay store that listed refurbished configurations that other IT professionals could understand and use for an up and coming or ongoing project that needed a specific server or storage build to facilitate the software or solution that needed to be implement. The difference was that the configurations were built from refurbished second user hardware, but are backed by our own, in-house 3 Year Hardware Replacement Warranty and also an added extra, 3 Year Remote Hardware Setup and Support, which gave the customer the same server, storage array, piece of networking hardware or component, but at a cost which is over 80% less than buying new retail! The builds soon turned into full Rack Server/Blade Server SAN Solutions with all the accessories and components to literally plug and play. Instead of the customer having to shop around looking for different parts to build their configuration they were looking for, we’d second guess what IT Managers were looking for in a solutions and list the whole lot as one big Server/SAN solution. As things progressed and the business grew it was time to build a website, but this time with a difference….. Andy always found it a pain when looking for components to build up solutions for customers. He would pretty much always have to buy bits from multiple suppliers which would become a pain at times because of logistics, differing warranties from different suppliers, failed parts and so on…. So Andy thought, Instead of listing prebuilt configurations like we do on our eBay store, why don’t we let our customers build their servers, storage arrays or SAN storage arrays to the exact spec they want, by been able to choose from every available option for that given server, storage array or SAN storage array that they were looking to purchase. It took a year and half for Andy to build and complete the website, http://www.intelligentservers.co.uk, from scratch all buy his self, but it was definitely worth it in the end as customers love it and find the fact that they can build what they’re looking for to the exact spec they need without having to shop anywhere else worth its weight in gold!
