Intelligence Studies Project Information

The Clements-Strauss Intelligence Studies Project (ISP) serves as the premier center for the study of intelligence at The University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin). With the invaluable support of its partner institutions, ISP’s mission is threefold: to educate and mentor the emerging intelligence professionals of tomorrow, to inform the public and UT Austin community about the U.S. Intelligence Community, and to advance the study of intelligence both within and beyond the Forty Acres. ISP was established in 2013 as a joint venture between the William P. Clements, Jr. Center for National Security and the Robert Strauss Center for International Security and Law out of a conviction that the activities of the U.S. Intelligence Community were increasingly critical to safeguarding our national security yet understudied at American universities. Since then, ISP has advanced its multifaceted mission through a variety of programming. What We Do: - Host a diverse array of public and private events focused on matters of direct relevance and importance to the U.S. Intelligence Community often focusing on the unique security environments of specific countries and/or regions, developments in intelligence tradecraft, and recently published scholarship contributing to the intelligence studies field - Deepen students' understanding of the U.S. Intelligence Community through unparalleled intelligence-oriented coursework and mentorship from former intelligence professionals - Connect students with professional development opportunities via ISP’s signature Texas Intelligence Academy, National Security Career Fair, and research projects - Develop students’ analytical capabilities and subject matter expertise through research conducted in partnership with U.S. intelligence agencies - Support outstanding student scholarship on the study of intelligence and/or national security via the annual Bobby R.
