Institute for Law and Finance (Goethe University Frankfurt) Information

The Institute for Law and Finance (ILF) is a center for academic excellence in teaching and research in the fields of law and finance. It was established in 2002 as a foundation of the Goethe University Frankfurt am Main with the support of many prominent institutions such as leading commercial banks, international law firms and regulatory authorities. The ILF also provides a policy platform in the legislative process by offering forums for discussions and exchanges between academia and practitioners. The LL.M. Finance program is international in every respect: our curriculum, our faculty and our students. The courses offered by the LL.M. Finance program include European and international corporate law, the law on capital markets and securities as well as topics on European monetary policies and central banking. The LL.M. Finance degree program also offers a wide range of courses on specialized topics such as “Law of Commercial Banking”, "Mergers & Acquisitions", "Law of Project and Acquisition Finance", “Law of Corporate Finance”, "Regulation of Financial Instruments", "Capital Markets and Securities Law", "Law of Investment Banking", “Accounting” and "Fundamentals of Finance. Our large faculty comes from over ten countries in Europe and the United States. In addition, our students come from all over the world – generally from more than 25 countries each year. Frankfurt plays a central role in European and global finance. The ILF, which is located in Frankfurt, the major financial center in continental Europe, provides the ideal location to train young professionals to deal with the legal and financial challenges facing a Europe with 28 states in the European Union and beyond.
