The group Geotechnics - CERMES of UR Navier carries out experimental, theoretical and numerical researches in geotechnics and geomechanics (mechanics of soils and rocks) with applications in civil engineering, particularly in urban environment, environmental engineering, offshore petroleum engineering and natural risks. Works focus in particular on soil-structure static and dynamic interactions (site effects, pile vibrations); thermo-hydro-mechanical couplings in geomaterials (nuclear waste storage, loess behaviour, drought effects, marine sediments, chalk carries stability, CO2 storage); granular soils and rocks behaviour (sands, coarse-grained soils, ballast, improvement by injection, reinforced works, fault behaviour). Researches cover the range from in situ investigation of soils and rocks to their constitutive modelling and the calculation and durability of geotechnical structures.
