Designed and made in the Rocky Mountains, its safe to say we at Insta-Chain know snow! Insta-Chain was founded in 1987 by John H. Atkinson (John Sr.) John started the company with the premise to create the best automatic tire chain product and company in the world. Before starting Insta-Chain, John had over three years experience in the industry. He took that knowledge and improved upon it. Many customers had been asking for specific improvements in the existing technology. So, John delivered precisely that. When he started Insta-Chain, John built into the design replaceable chain strands, and a grease fitting in the Chain Wheel. In subsequent years, Insta-Chain has made continual improvements to both its product and company. Some of these other features include: Interlocking Chain Plates, a Dust Boot in the Air Can, a Universal Mounting Bracket, 100% Grease-able Arm Bearings, a Recessed area in the lid for a tighter seal on the Diaphragm, and many custom designs for our customers. (See the BENEFITS page for more details.) John H. Atkinson Sr. was actively involved in Insta-Chain until his passing in 2007. He passed away as a result of Melanoma Cancer. He was very involved with the customers, and enjoyed working with them. John H. Atkinson Jr. is the current President and primary shareholder of Insta-Chain. John Jr. has worked in the automatic chain industry for more than 33 years. He is the foremost expert on automatic chains. John has worked alongside his father since the inception of the company and has worked in every aspect of the business including Assembly, Fabrication, Shipping, Design, Purchasing, Sales, and Management at all levels. This broad background helps John understand the needs of the company and the customer.
