Innovations for Learning (IFL) is non-profit organization committed to improving literacy outcomes in under-resourced schools by connecting the classroom to the community. Our flagship program, TutorMate, offers a unique opportunity for local volunteers to help students practice reading through weekly, online reading sessions. The consistent connection with a nurturing and friendly tutor not only helps students reach grade-level literacy, but also fosters self-esteem, confidence, and a joy for reading. TutorMate partners with 30 school districts across the United States and as of fall 2018, London, UK and Toronto, Canada. More than 200 incredible corporations and businesses have partnered with TutorMate to provide more than 5,000 TutorMate volunteers. These volunteers connect with their students each week for a 30 minute, remote reading session.
