Inflazyme Pharmaceuticals Ltd. is a development stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development and commercialization of new therapies to treat inflammatory diseases and thrombosis. Inflazyme commenced operations in 1992 to further develop technologies discovered by scientists at the University of British Columbia and is now developing a number of technologies based on its own internal discovery efforts. Currently, we have three novel drug candidates undergoing human clinical trials. Inflazyme's product development portfolio is based on novel, small-molecule product platforms. Our lead anti-inflammatory clinical product candidates are derived from a novel series of leukocyte selective anti-inflammatory drugs (LSAIDs) from which it may be possible to derive a wide range of novel therapies for inflammatory diseases. Our most advanced anti-thrombotic therapy is a novel heparin based product developed by world renowned researchers at the Henderson Research Centre based in Hamilton, Ontario. Inflazyme has established a major core competency in medicinal chemistry. We apply our expertise in this area to develop new small-molecule therapies. Inflazyme's business strategy is to add value to its technologies by developing product candidates through Phase II clinical trials [demonstration of safety and efficacy in man], and then seek corporate partnerships and out-licensing opportunities with large pharmaceutical companies to continue the development and commercialization process.
