Inalve was a French deeptech and bluetech startup, founded in 2016 in Nice as a spin-off from INRIA, developing a disruptive, patented, and highly sustainable and scalable method to cultivate microalgae; organisms invisible to the naked eye with real potential to help address today's biggest sustainability challenges. In 2022, Inalve operated a strategic pivot from alternative proteins to feed for hatcheries, a critical link in the aquaculture value chain, a sector recognized by the FAO as a key lever for global food security. Boosting animal health and productivity, simplifying logistics, and improving quality, its offer was described by early customers as a "game changer." Longer term, the ambition was to diversify into feed & food, water depollution, bio-inputs, and cosmetics, contributing to 9 of the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Recognized as a European Blue Champion by the European Investment Bank in 2024, Inalve wound down in 2026 after its investors could not align on funding conditions.
