Welcome Oak & Rail Press publishes nonfiction that is rooted in fact and built to last — memoir, investigative storytelling, and ideas-driven books on leadership, resilience, and integrity in business and life. We believe every story — personal or professional — carries lessons worth preserving, and that truth, told well, has lasting power. Our debut title, Truth Teller: How A Real American Family Overcame Adversity with Love, Respect, and Resilience, revisits Cincinnati's 1951 police corruption investigation through the eyes of the family who lived with its lasting consequences. Available September 2026. ____________________________________ What Oak & Rail Means to Me Growing up, the oak trees were where I went to think. I'd climb up and just sit — half hidden in the branches, half watching the world below. From up there, I could see the junkyard: the wreckage, the discarded, the things nobody wanted anymore. It was the backdrop of my childhood, and for a long time, it felt like it might be the whole of what surrounded me. But past the junkyard ran the railroad tracks. I'd watch them the way you watch a horizon — not for what they were, but for where they could lead. The tracks didn't care what was piled up around them. They kept going, straight through, toward somewhere else. Somewhere better. To a kid sitting in an oak tree looking out at scrap metal and rust, that railroad line was proof that "better" existed — that it wasn't just a feeling, it was a direction you could actually follow. That's what Oak & Rail is built on. The oak is the rootedness — the quiet place to sit still, to watch, to make sense of things before acting on them. The rail is the hope — the reminder that no matter what surrounds you, there's always a way through to something more. Every story this press publishes lives somewhere in that space: rooted in truth, moving toward hope. Nonfiction · Memoir · Business & Leadership · Investigative Storytelling
