Improbed AB Information

Improbed™ is a new combustion methodology for fluidized bed boilers. By introducing an oxygen-carrying mineral, Improbed™ enables a much more efficient use of the oxygen in the combustion air. The Improbed™ material is based on the mineral ilmenite. The use of Improbed™ instead of silica sand brings several improvements, such as increased combustion efficiency and capacity, less risk for agglomeration, and positive effects on emission levels. The concept of Improbed™ has been developed in close cooperation with the world class combustion research team at Chalmers University of Technology. The research project initially targeted possibilities for improving the E.ON fleet of fluidized bed boilers. The very promising results of the early tests made it clear that the potential should also be made available to other boiler operators. The company Improbed has been set up with the purpose of bringing the benefits of the new bed material to all customers.
