Imperial Lighting was founded in 1973 by Leon and Cary Mendelsohn who remain owners of the closely-held family business. Our company has grown to become the largest independently-owned lighting service contractor in Chicago. Throughout our history we have set the industry standard for dedication to customer service and quality work. Imperial Lighting is committed to providing the highest quality of service in the lighting industry. Our mission is to help improve productivity and reduce energy costs through effective and efficient lighting management. We accomplish this by customizing solutions for each our client’s unique business and lighting needs. We have proudly been a family-owned and operated business since our inception. Leon Mendelsohn founded the forerunner of the company in 1955, and his son Cary joined him in 1973 to open Imperial Lighting Maintenance Company. Starting in 2002, the third generation joined Imperial Lighting and today, Scott Mendelsohn, Todd Mendelsohn, and Lisa (Mendelsohn) Orloff manage the company and are an integral part of its continuing growth. Imperial Lighting started with 5 employees and has since grown to over 60 full-time personnel. At Imperial Lighting we pride ourselves on the longevity of our employees. Our leadership team has a combined 150 years of experience within the lighting industry. Our team of technicians and lighting contractors have an average of 25 years’ experience with Imperial Lighting. Our dedicated employees are key to providing customers with the most experienced, professional and efficient service in the industry.
