WaxWorks was founded in 1949 as a music retail store, which expanded to a national chain of company owned stores that operated in 37 states. The retail stores were sold to Trans World Entertainment in 2000. WaxWorks entered the Video Distribution business in 1980 at the introduction of the VCR and has maintained a distribution relationship with all of the major film studios and most of the small er independent studios. In 2006, WaxWorks started a new company, Team Marketing, to concentrate on the sports market. Team Marketing is now the largest holder of licenses for college sports and NASCAR video in the nation. The combination of our studio distributed videos and our exclusive titles has allowed us to gain access to every major retail account, as well as the smaller retailers which comprise over half of the sales in the sports market. Having started life as a sole distributor for rock climbing guidebooks published by the largest climbing clubs in the UK, the business now includes distribution of titles encompassing all outdoor activities. While climbing remains at our core we've seen cycling books flourish in the last few years and who'd heard of kayak fishing 10 years ago? In 2008 we outgrew our premises in Leicester and bit the bullet and relocated to Hinckley. We had been packing our orders onto pallets in the carpark! Now we work from a 14500 sq ft purpose-built warehouse and have more than 1,250,000 items in stock at any one time. Owned and managed by Jim Wilson and Chris Balic, with help from their team, Cordee now has a unique and world-renowned catalogue of books and maps that is used by the recreation and book trade throughout the UK and the world - our challenge is to support our publishers by keeping the market supplied with their unique books
