St. Mark Catholic School was established in 1982 in order to fulfill a need in the Catholic community of St. Mark the Evangelist Parish, in Plano, Texas. The school opened, welcoming 113 children in grades Kindergarten through third. The school's use of the educational building consisted of five classrooms, a small library, and the two-room main office. The church activity building provided space for physical education classes and a student lunchroom. The staff in 1982 was comprised of the principal, secretary, and six teachers. The enrollment, staff, and facilities steadily increased as the population of Plano increased. Presently, over forty staff members occupy the school plant, which consists of three building totaling 84,000 square feet on a 14.7 acre site. St. Mark was recognized by the United States Department of Education as a Blue Ribbon Exemplary School in 1992 and again in 2007. The school is accredited by the Texas Catholic Conference Education Department. The Diocese of Dallas Office of Education, in compliance with the Texas Education Agency, designs the curriculum. St. Mark Catholic School graduates and their families have continued to prove their commitment to Catholic education as all graduates who apply to Catholic high schools are accepted.

The school is an effective vehicle toward the formation of adults who will benefit our society as a whole. In our school, we are guided by the Holy Spirit in providing for the education of the whole child spiritually, physically and intellectually and socially. Children are taught in a caring and nurturing environment that views every child as a gift from God. The children grow with the understanding of Gods great love for each of us. Children develop positive self-esteem, self-advocacy, and social skills as well as a love and appreciation for learning. Join the Our Lady of Lourdes Family!
