Imirfada and our partners are developing low-cost autonomous LiDAR profiling devices suitable for installation in ocean-going platforms to persistently observe and quantify phytoplankton distributions in the upper ocean. Our broader vision is for a network of these LiDAR devices capable of fully automatic, long term, unattended operations installed on vessels of opportunity including merchant marine that repeat the same routes to provide long term climate change relevant datasets that do not currently exist.
