iMΕdD Information

iMEdD (incubator for Media Education and Development) is a non-profit organization founded in 2018 with the exclusive donation of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF). The creation of the Organisation was prompted by the global crisis in journalism and the growing lack of trust in journalists and the media. Fundamental values like freedom of speech are being challenged on a daily basis through attempts to control and manipulate the media, the latter being also plagued by a lack of independence and sustainability at the expense of the quality and validity of the journalistic output. Our mission is to support journalists, students, and media professionals as an incubator by providing the tools, training, and opportunities needed to enhance transparency and credibility in their work. With this in mind, and committed to advancing quality journalism, we foster a strong community of journalists by actively promoting collaboration, encouraging synergies, and supporting innovative projects that reshape media practices. Our dedication extends to the creation and facilitation of quality journalistic content through diverse initiatives such as the Incubator program, co-productions and iMEdD’s original content creation. Additionally, we organize events and workshops to train the journalistic community with the latest tools and practices, drawing insights from experts across various fields within journalism.
