The Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona (IMB-CNM-CSIC) is one of the three research centers belonging to the National Microelectronics Center (CNM) created in 1985 by the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). Recognized as a María de Maeztu Unit of Excellence, it comprises around 300 people with researchers, technicians, administration, students, and PhD fellows. The main activity is applied research and technology development in the fields of silicon-based micro and nano technologies, devices and systems. The R&D activities are mainly driven by competitive research projects funded through the EU Programs and through the National R+D+i Plan funded by the Spanish Ministry. IMB-CNM has unique high-level scientific infrastructures and know-how available for the scientific and industrial communities in Spain and worldwide. The institute hosts the Micro and Nanofabrication Clean Room, a Unique Scientific and Technical Infraestructure (ICTS), housing a set of complete micro and nanotechnologies, and processes, capable of covering a very broad range of applications in different fields including, biomedical, environment, energy and mobility, security, communications and consumer electronics, etc. The ICTS is an open access facility that aims at helping national and international research groups to carry out R&D activities. Apart from the clean room, IMB-CNM might give you access/service/consultancy for the following equipment and laboratories: -Design & CAD Service -Reverse Engineering -Electronic/ microelectronic Engineering Service -Electronic Systems Prototyping -Integrated Circuit and Systems Test -Prototyping -Advanced Electronics Packaging and Bonding -SAM/SEM/AFM. Additional activities include industrial R+D+I contracts (technical and consulting services, technological and pre-industrial research, technology transfer, design and fabrication of prototypes and small series), postgraduate and industrial training, and outreach.
