The Imago Camera is the largest walk-in large format camera in the world. The camera measures 7×4×3 metres and was built in the 1970s by Werner Kraus and Erhard Hößle and put into operation in 1972. It allows a life-size portrait to be made on a black and white paper measuring 60x200 cm. Since no negative is made, each image, the imagogram, is unique. The camera was initially forgotten, but was rediscovered in 2004 by the artist Susanna Kraus, Werner Kraus' daughter. In 2006, the first photos could be taken with the camera after a manufacturer for the reversal paper could be found in the Ilford company. Since September 2011, the camera has been permanently hosted in an art space of the Aufbau-Haus building in Berlin's Kreuzberg district.
