Imagen Photography was founded in 1995 to create high-end archival black and white portraiture. During the next two years, the company supported my artistic adventures in Halifax at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design where I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1997. I returned to Edmonton and continued to produce fine art photography and build the company focusing on portraiture and teaching photography at MacEwan. Jumping ahead to 2000, after a stint in Japan teaching English, I set up the company in a downtown Edmonton studio. I began gaining ground artistically, exhibiting work accross the country and the company started working with clients such as: SEE Magazine, CHUM Television, Bell Global Media and MacEwan University, Edmonton Arts Council, among others. In 2002, Berlin, Germany called, and the company went on an adventure. After returning from an amazing and productive time in Germany, myfocus changed from commercial photography endevours to making art and teaching. Imagen Photography took a brief hiatus from 2003 to 2005 for my return to University to complete my Masters of Fine Arts. In 2006 the company continued to play a supporting role to other ventures. I became the Director of Photography for a national publishing company. Overseeing the transition to digital capture, developing workflows, quality controls and creative directions. 2008 was a change I would have never predicted coming out of art school, I began working at an advertising agency. I worked my way up through the ranks to Associate Creative Director. My education and previous industry experience gave me great insight into the process and methodologies for creating effective communications and I gained valuable knowledge from the agencies senior members on what was needing to be said. I was honoured to work for clients, such as Travel Alberta, the City of Edmonton, Edmonton Economic Development Corporation, the Town of Stony Plain and a host of private enterprises. Over the period I was at the agency, I began producing images for these clients and won an Ad Club of Edmonton Award of Distinction for a Travel Alberta Image (seen below). In 2011, the agency was moving in a new direction and we decided to part ways. I took stock of my journey with Imagen Photography and lept into the renewed afair with both feet. This time, it was not about creating images. It was about creating content. Using the experience I had gained over the years since the company's inception and offering that to my clients. Our clients win and we win right along side them. Its the true worth of great content. The first year out of the gate, was filled with wonderful successes, working with clients the Town of Stony Plain, Anthony Developments, Prodor Designs, and agencies, Huntington and Worth, and Donovan Creative who won a 2012 Platinum Award from the Summit International Awards for their 'Answer the Call' Firefighter Recruitment campaign, launched on behalf of the Alberta Fire Chiefs Association (AFCA). I produced and directed the video (see below). This is just the beginning, wait until we get together and start talking about your next project.
