The Igman Initiative is an umbrella association whose projects are implemented at both micro- and macro-levels. It comprises NGO representatives, political and economic analysts, media, and local government representatives, who present, asses and design projects at joint sessions. To ensure quality analysis and impact on the ground, multi-sector expert groups are occasionally established to deal with specific topics. The Igman Initiative is governed by four co-Presidents from Croatia, BiH, Serbia and Montenegro. The Council is comprised of 20 members, five per country. Some of the conditions for the EU membership are stable institutions, guaranteeing democracy, rule of law, observance of human rights and rights of minorities. Civil society activities in this area are of key importance for the attainment of these goals. The mission of the Igman Initiative is encouragement and normalization of overall relations among the countries of the region and exertion of a positive pressure on their authorities aimed at resolving key issues relating to citizens of the countries of the Dayton Quadrangles. The Igman Initiative efforts are aimed at establishing good neighbourly relations, building mutal trust and tolerance and overcoming all types of discrimination in the countries of the region. The Igman Initiative directly contributes to the advancement of the process of European and Euro-Atlantic integration of the entire region.
