La Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala is a public university. Was one of the first universities in America. It was declared a university on January 31, 1676 by royal command of King Charles II of Spain. It is a big institution well-known for the quality of its teaching and academic research, its international orientation and its higher than average study workload.
