PPL is the UK music industry’s collective management organisation (CMO), licensing the use of recorded music in the UK and collecting royalties on behalf of performers and recording rightsholders around the world. As a leader in global rights management, we help to ensure that those who invest their time, talent and money in creating recorded music are fairly compensated when it is used in public, or broadcast on television or radio. In 2025, our annual revenue reached £315.3 million, an increase of 4.75% year on year. Last year, we paid more than 182,000 performers and recording rightsholders (including record companies, self-releasing artists and musicians), with 16,000 receiving a payment from PPL for the first time.

As the only organization designated by the U.S. government to administer the Section 114 sound recording license, SoundExchange collects and distributes digital performance royalties on behalf of 650,000 music creators and growing. Through proprietary music tech solutions that turn data into accurate revenue, SoundExchange has paid more than $10 billion in distributions to date.
