IEROM Information

IEROM is the only recognized humanitarian umbrella organization in Michigan. It is a Non-Profit, Tax Exempt, 501(c)(3) approved organization. IEROM was founded in January 2001 when the devastating earthquake occurred in the State of Gujarat. Its mission is to provide relief to the victims of any natural disaster. IEROM is supported by many local cultural, religious and humanitarian organizations. In 2001, over 36 Michigan organizations and associations of Indian origin came together under one umbrella to support the cause, enabling us to make a significant difference collectively than any of us could individually. IEROM has "zero" administrative costs. Every dollar contributed is used for the disaster relief efforts. IEROM raised about $800,000 from the People of Michigan in 2001. IEROM leveraged these funds with various Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and successfully completed 12 major projects in Gujarat - building villages, schools and hospitals in the earthquake-affected areas. Why would someone contribute to IEROM as opposed to contributing individually? IEROM has a proven track record of working successfully with NGOs and successfully completing all the projects. Contributions distributed from under one umbrella have far greater impact than individual contributions. Small contributions may go unnoticed in this huge worldwide relief effort. Significant contributors, either individual or organization, will have an opportunity to direct funds to a specific cause and/or a specific geographic location, whether that is in India or in other affected areas. After the successful completion of the 12 projects in Gujarat in 2001, we had "Supported by IEROM - People of Michigan" nameplates / plaques posted in every new village, school and hospital supported by IEROM.
