Airfix – a new subsidiary of South Pole – combines decades of climate finance and carbon project development expertise with a vision for a scalable Biomass Carbon Removal and Storage (BiCRS) market in Switzerland and beyond. Airfix supports biogenic carbon emitters to develop and finance carbon removal and storage, giving investors the confidence to invest in BiCRS while producing certified carbon removal credits, underpinned by significant emissions reductions. We aim to capture 5,000,000 tonnes of CO₂e in 10 years. By creating a cohesive ecosystem for BiCRS projects, we simplify the complex value chain for biogenic emitters, providing investors with attractive opportunities for low-carbon investments and drive carbon finance into the BiCRS market by working with carbon standards to produce certified carbon credits. ––––––––––– Biomass with Carbon Removal and Storage (BiCRS) is a process that captures carbon emissions from organic material and stores this carbon geologically or in durable products. BiCRS uses proven technology that holds significant potential in industries such as biomass or biogas plants, wastewater treatment plants and waste incineration plants. ––––––––––– Airfix was enabled by the Migros Pioneer Fund, which looks for and supports ideas with social potential. ClimatePartner supports companies in climate action: With our solution combining software and consulting, we support our clients in making a contribution to climate action and anchoring it in their strategy. Companies calculate carbon footprints for them or their products, set reduction targets, implement reductions, finance climate projects and are supported by ClimatePartner through to the communication of their climate action commitment. These five steps can be transparently tracked with the label ClimatePartner certified and the corresponding climate-ID page. Where these requirements cannot yet be met, we provide the opportunity to contribute to financing climate projects. This commitment can be demonstrated via the Financial climate contribution label as well as ClimatePartner’s established ID tracking. As we want to take climate action to a new level, we develop high-quality, certified climate projects with our ClimatePartner Impact business division. In addition to the positive effects on the climate, these and the other projects from the ClimatePartner portfolio provide additional benefits for the local communities, guided by the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
