ICON @ NAIT Information

The Investment Club of NAIT is the largest investment club among polytechnics in Canada with membership of over 30 students. The club was originally formed in 2012 and is one of the fastest growing clubs on campus. The club has recently put in place a real money portfolio which will be in use starting September 2015. The club's main goal is to bring like minded students from across campus and educate members on the fundamentals of investing. ICON achieves this through weekly stock presentations among members, educational presentations conducted by faculty, and managing a portfolio of securities using real capital. The portfolio is divided into six segments led by portfolio managers and supported by analysts. Buy and sell pitches for securities are presented to the club and a decision is made on whether to go through with the presented pitch by the club members as well as the faculty advisers. Students from all backgrounds are encouraged to become members, regardless of finance knowledge. General meetings take place on a weekly basis except for weeks of scheduled events.
