Meet Bella - the playful AI companion teaching children how the future works. We're IchiZero, a Finnish EdTech spinout from Nokia Bell Labs building the embodied AI learning platform for children aged 6–12. Bella combines a small, screen-free robot with an AI-powered learning experience that turns abstract topics like artificial intelligence, machine learning, and programming into something children can touch, talk to, and teach. No prior coding required. No connectivity required. Just curiosity. Our story began inside Nokia Bell Labs as a centennial research project asking a simple question: how do you give every child, not just the privileged few, a real, hands-on understanding of the technology already shaping their lives? In 2026, that question became a company. IchiZero Oy spun out of Bell Labs to carry the mission forward independently. Today, Bella lives in two places that reinforce each other: - In classrooms: supporting teachers with curriculum-aligned lessons, classroom tools, and a child-safe AI environment. - At home: extending learning through playful missions children actually want to come back to. We work with partners who share the belief that AI literacy should be a global standard, not a privilege and a growing network of schools, researchers, and educators. What makes Bella different isn't just the robot. It's the pedagogy behind it, the safety framework around it, and the conviction that the best learning still feels like play.
