Myths, magic, and sagas—Iceland’s robust storytelling culture has made it one of the most coveted destinations for creative minds. From April 8 - 12, 2015 a series of workshops and panels will be led by an esteemed team of international writers. Participants will have the unique opportunity to develop your writing in a warm and personable environment, set against the vibrant and picturesque backdrop of Reykjavik, the first non-native English speaking UNESCO City of Literature. Between intimate workshops and lectures, we’ll offer the chance to tour the spectacular Golden Circle, sit in the cozy cafes of Reykjavik, soak in geothermal hot springs, listen to new Icelandic music, meet contemporary Icelandic writers, and learn about the country’s rich literary tradition. Our workshops will be led by acclaimed fiction and non-fiction writers from around the world: award-winning travel writer Marcello Di Cintio, New Yorker staff writer Adam Gopnik, Orange Prize for Fiction winner Barbara Kingsolver, Man Booker Prize nominee Alison Pick, bestselling food writer and editor Ruth Reichl, Granta "Best Young British Author" Taiye Selasi, Nordic Council Literary Prize winner Sjón, critically acclaimed Norwegian author Linn Ullmann, Governor General's Prize winner John Vaillant and former University of Edinburgh Writer in Residence Alan Warner. The retreat will be sold as a package (excluding airfare) and the delegate fee will include accommodation at Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Natura, a recently renovated, modern four-star hotel next to a popular wooded area. The hotel is just a 20-minute walk from the city centre and five minutes from a geothermal beach. In September, 2014, the Sydney Morning Herald named us one of the world’s best writers’ retreats.
