i12 social innovation brings together management consultants, software developers and designers with people who understand a social problem to help build (web and mobile) solutions to social challenges. We think the web and related technologies hold huge potential to create change. Change in many different ways: who people rely on to provide the services they need to live healthy, happy lives; or how they make a difference to something that affects them. But for any of this to happen, we have to understand what people really need and start building the technology that can help. Through unusual, creative tools, instruments and events we bring together talented professionals with social innovators to prototype effective web-based solutions to real social problems. The web has already had a huge impact on the way we live our lives: it has changed how we communicate, how we entertain ourselves, our friendships and the way we work. Now it is going to change how we access our health care, how we educate our children and how we provide for the most vulnerable in our communities. The real web revolution is only just beginning and it is going to affect every aspect of how society organises and provides for itself.
