HYDRA Information

“H Y D R A is small, simple, and possesses many heads. It undergoes morphallaxis when injured or severed and it appears not to age or die.” HYDRA is a practice and ongoing circular methodology exploring the collective body as a site for transpersonal intimacy and post-traumatic reprogramming. Since 2015, ritualistic frameworks, speculative technology and wearable membranes have been developed as tools to investigate trauma and compulsion, consumption and desire through a language of biointerfaces and pop sci-fi narrative design. HYDRA programme unfolds through performative workshops, audiovisual essays, simulations and reenactments, site-specific rituals, and phygital spatial design artefacts—seeding decentralised culture through somatic knowledge and speculative materiality. The research draws from neuroscience, plant intelligence, esotericism, posthuman philosophy and emerging biotechnologies. HYDRA most recent work has been developing between the rural lands of Southern Italy and techno-ecological hubs across Europe, reinterpreting life cycles and fluid identities in both digital and material space. HYDRA envisions a reality where the cosmic womb is a technology of radical, intelligent care.
