HyaPak is a Kenyan-based startup that converts water hyacinth (the world's most problematic aquatic weed), into biodegradable alternatives to single-use plastic products. Basically, we use one problem, water hyacinth, to solve another problem, plastic waste pollution, and create green jobs for the affected local communities. HyaPak has been named as the best startup in COP 28 under Nature, Food and Water Systems, the best innovation in Kenya by the East Africa Community, and is listed by Yale Africa Startup Review as part of the Top 30 startups in Africa.
