Founded in 1997 by brothers Michael and Jeffrey Savit, HWS Group is a sports management firm that owns and operates professional sports franchises. Managing Partner Michael Savit brings over 30 years of experience to the industry, having worked for the Cleveland-based International Management Group (IMG) from 1981-1997, specializing in event management. Named after their late father Herbert W. Savit, Michael and Jeffrey entered the world of Minor League Baseball in 1998 after the purchase of their first team, the South Atlantic League's Augusta Green Jackets. Under the HWS Group ownership, the Green Jackets won the 1999 South Atlantic League Championship. The following year, HWS Group added the Michigan Battle Cats and have since held interests in multiple properties from both the MiLB and the NBA D-League, most recently adding the Dayton Dragons to its portfolio.
