Each District has many Scout Groups made up of Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts and Scouts. In each District there are Explorers Scouts who will either be run as units for the whole District or they might be associated with an individual Group. There will also be a Scout Network for the older young people. For Adults, each District has a Scout Active Support Unit who help develop and support Scouting in the area. This section is open to all adults who have a bit of time to help their local community even if they cannot commit to being a leader at a Group. The County offers a hugely diverse range of activities from archery to zorbing and everything in between; there are very few adventurous activities that Scouts are not allowed to do! We offer a progressive training scheme which helps young people develop themselves and which works in tandem with the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme to produce awards which are recognised by Employers and Colleges. Scouting is the UK’s biggest mixed youth organisation. We change lives by offering 4 to 25-year-olds fun, challenging activities and personal development that make a positive impact in local communities.
Central Yorkshire Scouts has over 7,000 young members supported by 2,500 adult volunteers, covering the vast majority of Leeds and Wakefield. With eight districts supporting 102 groups, Scouting is taking place near you every single night of the week.
We also offer adventure to adults, and there are a wide variety of roles and opportunities available to those who want to get involved - see our Vacancies page for more!
