Humber Valley United Church Information

Humber Valley United Church was established in 1952. Our founding Minister, Rev. R. Arthur Steed, served during a time of pioneering as young families moved into the area, building their homes in the fields and orchards that their community replaced. It was shortly after the war, and everyone was filled with hope for a better future. And as people built this community, they built the schools and the churches that would serve as community centres, that would educate their many children, and would serve their spiritual needs. Arthur Steed was very active in building both the Humber Valley United congregation and the building where we worship. He served HVUC as its Minister for about 20 years and christened and married many of the people who live in this community. In June 2008, at a service attended by his widow, children and grandchildren, HVUC's main floor hall was renamed in his memory: Arthur Steed Fellowship Hall. Humber Valley is located at the corner of Anglesey Blvd. and Hartfield Road. There is ample parking. Our congregation enjoys energetic worship and programming which emphasizes spiritual growth with preaching and music being the core elements of worship. Worship, in a sanctuary that features stunning stained glass windows by Eric Wesselow, is a blend of traditional and contemporary expressions of our faith, with involvement from all members of our congregation. We especially encourage children and youth to take part and provide leadership in our worship services. In addition to weekly Sunday services at 10.30 a.m., there are a variety of special services throughout the year that highlight significant times and events during the Christian year. It's an exciting time to be at Humber Valley United as we enter out 60th year of worship and fellowship together! In August 2004 we began new ministry as we welcomed the Rev.
