The Help Us Grow Foundation, Inc. (H.U.G.) is a literacy-focused nonprofit dedicated to helping children become confident, grade-level readers while building character, confidence, and community connection. Through the H.U.G. Reading Program, H.U.G. provides one-on-one reading support for elementary students, primarily in grades 2–4, using structured literacy practices, trained reading mentors, and virtual tutoring sessions. Our programs help students strengthen reading skills, improve comprehension, and develop the confidence they need to succeed in school and beyond. H.U.G. also creates meaningful opportunities for high school students, college students, adults, volunteers, interns, community partners, and organizations to serve as reading mentors, support literacy initiatives, and Be The Difference™ in the lives of children and families. Our work includes literacy tutoring, H.U.G. & WIN, school partnerships, volunteer and internship opportunities, community engagement, and multigenerational service programs that connect people through the power of reading. At H.U.G., we believe literacy opens doors. Together, we help children read, learn, grow, and thrive.
