Höweler + Yoon Architecture / MY Studio is a multidisciplinary practice, operating in the space between architecture, art, and landscape. HYA / MY Studio's work lies at the intersection of the conceptual and the corporeal. They believe in an embodied experience of architecture, seeing media as material and its effects as palpable elements of architectural speculation. From concept to construct they are determined to realize the built idea, and to test projects through the dynamic interaction between the construct and the larger public. Recent projects include White Noise White Light, an interactive installation for the Athens 2004 Olympics, 3 Degrees of Felt (The Aztec Empire), an exhibition design in collaboration with TEN-Arquitectos for the Guggenheim Museum in New York, Media Spill, a competition entry for the Nam June Paik Museum, and Building 2345, a mixed use building in Washington DC scheduled for construction in January 2006. Their work received 3 Design Distinction awards by I.D. Magazine in 2004 and has been published and reviewed in Material Process: Young Architects 4 (Princeton Architectural Press 2003), the Boston Globe, New York Times, Financial Times, Domus, New York Arts Magazine, Interior Design Magazine, Architectural Lighting and I.D. Magazine. Eric Höweler (b. Cali, Colombia) is a registered architect and architectural writer. He received a Bachelor of Architecture and a Masters of Architecture from Cornell University.
