We started Horizon WebRef in 2005 because, as officials and assignors ourselves, we were dealing with the same spreadsheets, email chains, game changes, and last-minute scheduling problems that come with running an officiating organization. We wanted one place to manage the work behind the games, so we built it. Today, Horizon gives organizations one place to schedule qualified referees and umpires, collect availability, handle assignments and game changes, keep everyone informed, evaluate officials, collect reports, and prepare payroll. Officials can maintain availability, accept or decline assignments, request TBA openings, view schedules in the Android and iOS apps, and connect their calendars. We still build Horizon from both sides of the schedule: as the people filling the slate and the people stepping onto the field or ice. That perspective continues to shape how Horizon works for associations, leagues, clubs, schools, conferences, tournaments, assignors, and officials.
