Horfield Health Centre Information

We are the only practice at Horfield Health Centre. Dr Terry Kemple and Partners is made up of 9 partners (including our business partner manager), 4 salaried doctors, and usually one or two junior doctors in training. We provide a personalised GP service for our patients. This means that every patient has a named GP responsible for their care. We try to ensure that patients seen their personal GP most of the time. Our checks show that we achieve this 55-60% of the time. We have 5 (approx 4 WTE) Health Visitors here and 3 nursery nurses and roughly 1000 children under 5, of which 12 are on a safe guarding plan and 23 are defined as children in need. 10% of our children have a current or past history of domestic violence in their family. Our team's roles and responsibilities are listed elsewhereon this website. Apart from our practice staff, other staff working at the centre are employed mainly by Bristol Community Health or North Bristol Trust. These include health visitors, district nurses, midwives, a community matron, a care of the elderly nurse, speech therapists, podiatrists, counsellors, and a pharmacist adviser. These colleagues serve our patients and others in the wider area. Since 2002 like most other GPs in Bristol we have worked in the NHS Personal Medical Services (PMS) scheme rather the traditional General Medical Service (GMS scheme). Over the next year (by April 2016) we expect to have this contract reviewed by NHS England. Despite other reductions in our income and our increasing workload there will be pressure to reduce our current funding.
