Hope's Door Information

The mission of Hope's Door is to offer intervention and prevention services to individuals and families affected by domestic violence and to provide education programs that enhance the community's capacity to respond. Hope's Door is an organization in Collin County specializing in comprehensive intervention and prevention services for all members of a family affected by domestic violence - from victim to abuser. Hope's Door was established in 1986 as a crisis hotline. Clients were housed in local hotels until the opening of a 21-bed emergency shelter in 1989. Since then, services have expanded to include transitional housing, counseling for adults and children, legal advocacy and services for abusers. Hope's Door's comprehensive programs and services are designed to help break the cycle of domestic abuse. Hope's Door provides direct intervention and prevention services to Texas families affected by domestic abuse in Collin County, Dallas County, and surrounding areas. Hope's Door is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Since 1986, Hope's Door has provided emergency shelter and transitional housing to more than 6,000 women and children, answered over 30,000 crisis line calls and educated 50,000 community members and domestic violence survivors. In 2013, Hope's Door responded to over 1,900 crisis hotline calls, sheltered more than 400 women and children, housed over 50 families in transitional housing and provided counseling and legal advocacy to more than 1,300 survivors. Due to the lack of space in the emergency shelter, Hope's Door had to turn away 337 victims of domestic violence. In response to this need, Hope's Door is looking to double shelter capacity.
