At Hope Valley Bottle Shop, we aim to be a community driven, neighborhood wine and beverage store. Customer service and a world class selection are our highest priorities. We look for the same thing in our selections that we look for in individual bottles - balance. On our shelves you'll find some of the newest emerging trends in wine sitting right next to old school classics. Natural wines, yes we have them. Estate wines, yup, got those too. Award winning brands, oh yeah, some of the best and most notable in stock today! We want to listen to our customers, and deliver to them what they want. We never want to be a store that tells you what WE think you SHOULD be drinking instead of what YOU WANT to be drinking. If your goal is to push your own envelope and try something new, we've got the knowledge and selection to help you with that. Or if you just want the comfort and security of a tried and true favorite, we're ready there as well. We are here to be your everyday Sommelier, and to help you pick out the perfect pairing for tonight's dinner. And of course, we are ready for volume purchases if you want some savings, as we offer a half case discount of 5% off on six or more bottles (mix and match), and a 10% discount on full cases of 12 or more bottles (mix and match). Being a small store, we can't stock everything, so we are old hands at special orders, and would be happy to look into ordering your favorite for you, in single or multiple bottle increments. In beer we specialize in brews you can age, such as darker Stouts and Porters, Belgian Styles, Sour Beers and Barrel Aged Beers. And for the mixed beverage lover, we have one of the Triangle's best selections of Vermouths, Appertivos, Bitters and Mixers. Hope Valley Bottle Shop was opened in 2008, and is owned and managed by Drew Lazarus. A native of Massachusetts, Drew always had a strong connection to North Carolina as his father was born and raised in Sanford, NC. Drew came down south for college at UNC in 1988, and has been here ever since. While finishing college, he tended bar and managed at The Carolina Coffeeshop, the long time Chapel Hill restaurant, and caught the wine bug. Following that passion, he developed the wine lists for a variety of Triangle area restaurants, and worked for several years for two of the larger wine distributors as a Sales Rep in the Chapel Hill/Durham markets. His pre-HVBS experience had its peaks in a two year run as the Sommelier at The Washington Duke Inn, and over a year as General Manager and Sommelier at Nana's, two of Durham's elite dining options. Drew left Nana's to pursue the dream of owning his own store, and now that HVBS is a reality, we pair up often with our dear friends at Nana's for fantastic wine dinners, as well as working with many of Durham and Chapel Hills best restaurants! Led by Drew, the staff at HVBS love what we do, and hope that passion comes across to all of our customers!
