In the Autumn of 2005 we opened our current location and introduced our Fine Gifts Shop. Since the events we decorate are mostly weddings, we wanted to offer our brides, and also the general public, fine gifts that reflected the Sweet Pea aesthetic. We also offer a bridal registry. Owner and Head Designer, Shelby Fraser, has always had a love for flowers. In her youth she would often arrange flowers for herself and loved ones. After receiving her BFA in Illustration from The Philadelphia College of Art (now The University of the Arts), she moved to New York City to work in the photo industry. While there she began taking courses at The New York Botanical Garden. Realizing she really enjoyed working with flowers, a natural extension of her artistic talents, she completed the program and received a certificate in Floral Design. At the same time, she began working part time in a flower shop and planning her wedding! Returning to Philadelphia she created the flowers and decor for her own wedding. A short while later, the flower shop she had been working at was sold. So, she decided to start her own business - Sweet Pea Flowers! Now, years later, she is still designing stunning arrangements and incorporating additional decorative elements, like special lighting, linens, props, plants and trees to bring each client's unique vision to life. For our Fine Gifts Shop we have brought together several beautiful collections for self and home that integrate well together. The Sweet Pea look is a clean, classic look in a mostly neutral pallet - Whites, Ivories, Earthtones and Black - with splashes of bold color. There is a versatility with the collections. Using some of the same pieces as framework, it is an easy transition from a more "delicate" or "feminine" look to a more "earthy" or sometimes "masculine" look. Our collections are largely from Europe, but we support local artisans as well. We make great efforts to carry lines that, while oftentimes functional, are really objects d'art.
