The HÖOK, organized on a democratic basis, ensures the repre- sentation of higher education students at a national level. In every higher education institution, the operation of a student council is not only a statutory obligation but also a subjective right in or- der to represent the students’ interests in an appropriate manner and at the right level. The HÖOK carries out education organizing, social and youth policy tasks for the comprehensive development of Hungarian higher education. To serve this purpose, it operates several programs, including three mentoring programs, during which it feels responsibility for cross-border Hungarian students. In addition, it also organizes and arranges numerous national events, such as the National Touristic Meeting of University and College Students (EFOTT).
