Founded in 2009 to lead the city's nonprofit, HUD-approved housing counseling organizations through the recession and foreclosure crisis, Home SF has grown into San Francisco's centralized hub for affordable housing education, counseling, and resources. Through a network of member agencies and collaborative partners, Home SF connects residents to one-on-one housing counseling, financial empowerment coaching, and free workshops — covering rental readiness, first-time homebuyer education, credit and debt management, down payment assistance, and foreclosure/mortgage relief — in, but not limited to, English, Spanish, Cantonese/Mandarin, and Filipino. By centralizing services that would otherwise be scattered across dozens of individual nonprofits and city agencies, Home SF reduces barriers for low- and moderate-income San Franciscans seeking to rent, buy, or remain in their homes.
