Pure Hockey is headquartered outside of Boston, MA. The company was founded in 1994 and was acquired by David Nectow and Sal Tiano in 2008. Nectow and Tiano started their hockey business in 2002 with the purchase of one hockey retail store in Massachusetts. Pure Hockey has since expanded organically and through strategic acquisitions and now operates two ecommerce sites and over 80 stores in 26 states across the U.S. under the Pure Hockey and Pure Goalie brands. Pure Hockey is the Official Hockey Equipment Retailer of USA Hockey and the Retail Partner of the NHL/NHLPA's Learn to Play Program.

Since its founding in 1999, Total Hockey Inc. has designed and built itself into the leader in hockey equipment specialty retailing. Entering a staid retail marketplace that was largely content to look the same year after year—small, dingy stores; unsophisticated systems; inward looking management—THI dragged hockey retail first into the 20th century, then into the 21st. THI’s growth has been robust from humble beginnings in St. Louis. Our first extra-home market store opened in December of 2006. THI is now in twelve metro markets with 32 stores. And we have ambitious plans for more. THI entered lacrosse retail in 2012, now has four lacrosse stores, and is beginning to drive change in that sport’s retail framework as well. THI boast significant ecommerce penetration in both hockey and lacrosse businesses.
