HFSC was formed because education is the single most unifying issue of the various Hispanic communities in Wisconsin. Hispanics overwhelmingly support School Choice in all it’s forms, Choice, Charter and Virtual. Wisconsin and specifically the city of Milwaukee have been national leaders in school reform over the past 20 years. Created in 1990, the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program (MPCP) is the nation’s largest and oldest school voucher program for low-income families; this initiative has included many children in the Hispanic community. Both the Choice and Charter Programs of Milwaukee have proved to be a huge success and this success is something that we would like to see continued and even expanded upon, both inside and outside the city of Milwaukee.
