Founded by J.M. González Pérez in 1988, Hispa Fruit BV is based in Barendrecht. In the early stages, imports were sourced mainly from Spain, Italy, France, Greece and other Southern European countries. As of 1990, we started importing fruit from South America: Chile, Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil, followed shortly later by South Africa, Israel, and Morocco. In the mid-1990s, contacts were made with Central America, notably Costa Rica and Honduras. In Costa Rica, we have our own Agromonte pineapple farm covering 2500 hectares. Today, we have a very wide range of produce imported from over 45 countries. Barendrecht’s strategic location is crucially important for all transport and distribution activities. It is the ideal location for the Netherlands, surrounded by an extensive infrastructure. We are located at a stone’s throw from the Port of Rotterdam, and close to the Port of Antwerp and the Schiphol and Zestienhoven airports. In Barendrecht, Hispa Fruit BV has over 30,000 m2 of very modern offices, cooling facilities, ripening facilities for mangos and avocados and also a 3000 m2 retail packaging department.
