HIS Classes Information

Homeschool Instructional Support (H.I.S.) Classes is an association of teachers who have coordinated their schedules to better serve the home educating community. Parents have a God-given responsibility to teach their children. Our desire is to assist parents in home educating their children by offering high quality, college preparatory classes, as well as some supplementary classes, all taught by believers, enabling parents to continue home education through the high school years. Our focus is to develop the student's critical thinking and problem solving skills from a Christ-centered, Christian worldview. This focus should result in the student being academically and spiritually prepared for his calling in life. HIS Classes is not a private school. It is a cooperative of teachers who offer a la carte classes for homeschooling families. In Texas, a home school is a private school. As long as the home school parent makes a bona fide effort to educate the child, the homeschool qualifies as a private school. HIS Classes offers quality classes with accountability to another adult beside the homeschooling parent, with the goal of enabling the homeschool to continue through the high school years. To be absolutely clear, you cannot just drop off your child at HIS Classes and feel that you have taken care of your responsibility to teach and train your child. You are fooling yourself and cheating your child if you attempt to do this. Questions often arise about private classes and high school credits. HIS Classes teachers will assign grades for the courses completed, but parents are in charge of deciding what credits will be granted for which courses. Few, if any, public or private schools will give credit for classes taken from private tutors or teachers, such as HIS Classes.
